How do people communicate over distance? And how did colonialism open up more distance between people while making the world a smaller place?

These are the questions Nina Feldman is asking 200 strangers by sending them each a postcard and asking them to contribute to her performance. These strangers are scattered around the globe, but they all live on streets named after Queen Victoria.

What will they have to say?

Will they respond at all?

And how will Nina make their responses into a performance?

The performance of Hands Across The Sea will be accompanied by an exhibition of postcard works in The Yard Theatre bar. These pieces have been developed throughout the project in response to the creative process and returning postcards.

Nina Feldman is a London-based South African artist concerned with migrations across the globe. She asks how people come to belong both here and there as they make their lives from the movement to and from different places.

Created and performed by Nina Feldman, developed in collaboration with Nyree Yergainharsian.
