The Fish Tales of Alaska opens this week!

in News / by colette
November 7, 2012

Here at The Yard we are preparing for the very last show in our season- The Fish Tales of Alaska, which opens tomorrow night.
Fish Tales is a beautiful and poignant show, and its startling relevance has been highlighted this week as Hurricane Sandy has devastated much of the Caribbean and East Coast of America.

As the World’s climate shifts to accommodate a growing population, The Fish Tales of Alaska tells the story of Man’s sacred and volatile relationship with the sea.

In 40 years there may be no more fish. What will the fishermen of Alaska do then?
Come and see…

WATCH THE TRAILER

Mythology meets reality in a tidal wave of dance, documentary, performance and mesmerising live choral music to explore the very real impact of Man’s exploitation of The World’s Oceans.

50% of The Great Barrier Reef has been destroyed in the last 30 years.
Levels of Arctic sea ice have reached a record low.
.The UN estimates that over 70% of the world’s fish stocks are either fully exploited or depleted.

This beguiling and consuming new production asks: How did we lose our way so badly? And is it too late to put things right?
