The Queen’s Yard Company
16 May — 05 August
The Yard Theatre is searching for daring, determined young actors to join our first ever in-house company.
The Yard Theatre has a reputation for radicalism, for experimentation and for making really, really good theatre. Now we’re forming a company. The Queen’s Yard Company. And we’re looking for performers aged 15-19 to be part of it.
If you’ve got energy to give, commitment to invest and ideas to share, join us. Together we’ll create brand new explosive work at The Yard, London’s most exciting theatre.
Working weekly, we’ll shape the company around the people in the room, building trust and using our shared energy to investigate your ideas, experiences and interests before collectively creating a performance for The Yard’s stage in July 2018.
Applications for The Queen’s Yard Company have now closed. For more information or to join the waiting list, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Our first piece of work will be You Do Not Have To Say Anything:
Do you ever feel that you are treated a certain way because of things outside of your control?
When was the last time you were stopped by a police officer? Did they tell you why you were stopped?
Caroline Williams, renowned director, and Jonathan Goddard, one of the UK’s leading contemporary dancers, want to make a performance about the police. They’ve been interviewing police officers about their jobs to try and understand what doing that job might feel like. Now, they want young Londoners to tell them what it feels like being on the other side: what does it feel like to be policed? What does it feel like when it goes wrong and people get hurt or angry?
Sessions are Wednesdays, 5-7.30pm
Every Wednesday from 5 – 7.30pm in term-time.
The Queen’s Yard Company is for local people aged 15-19 years and interested in performance.
