Black, queer, immersive clubnight The Batty Mama returns for our fifth event: “ConSensual”
Our summer event is a night of burlesque, strip-teases, pole and lap dances, reclaiming sensual, sex-positive space for Black queer, trans, non-binary and a-gender community.
“ConSensual” takes place at our new wheelchair accessible venue, The Yard along with a subtitled outdoor film programme curated by Batty Mama co-founder Hakeem Kazeem, and our host of incredible BSL signers.
Happy Lappies from Wesley Dykes..

The Batty Mama is a down and dirty, open and enticing dystopic space for queer and trans bodies from all Black constellations and cultural backgrounds to reclaim booties of colour. We curate a dynamic and immersive programme of queer Black performance that appear both on and off the dance floor. We also feature DJs spinning old skool 90’s r’n’b and hip hop, garage, afrobeats, bashment, funky house and detroit techno.
Batty buddies are on-site if hugs, reassurance, support, or consenting dance-offs are required. We are for QTIBPOC by QTIBPOC, with a particular focus on showcasing the talent of Black queer, trans and nonbinary artists.
The Batty Mama is curated by Ama Josephine Budge and Hakeem Kazeem.
