KG, aka Karen Nyame, started making UK Funky back around the time of the genre’s initial peak (2009). KG’s initial output contributed to the wave of sound which completely dominated late-noughties London but perhaps where the spotlight due on her talents got lost amongst those railway arches, warehouses and clubs. Fast-forward 9 years and KG is now finally receiving the attention, press and plays that she truly deserves with the anthemic ‘808’ being revived on an EP of her classic tracks through Goon Club Allstars. Between then and now, KG has become an accomplished DJ; from a slew of highly regarded cosigns and club appearances to holding down regular shows on NTS, Radar and Rinse FM. Her high-energy DJ sets match her frenetic production style, merging Africa polyrhythmic beats, euphoric melodies and hard hitting basslines.
