We are thrilled to be partnering with the National Theatre and the Chanel Fund for Women in Arts and Culture as the inaugural partner of the NT Women Of Tomorrow Directors Award. This Award offers a fantastic opportunity for female-identifying director to bring their work to a wider audience by staging a bold new production at The Yard.
You’ll get these brilliant things:
- To develop and direct a 3 week run of a new show produced by and staged at The Yard in Autumn 2020
- A 6 month residency at the National Theatre’s New Work department, facilitating projects and gaining insight into the work of some of the UK’s leading writers and directors
- A 5 day workshop at the National Theatre Studio to develop initial ideas ahead of rehearsals
This is the first year of the award, in which every year the National Theatre and the Chanel Foundation will partner with a venue committed to artist development and staging bold new work every year. We’re so pleased to be the first one.
“We are delighted to partner with the National Theatre and Chanel for the inaugural Chanel Award. Since our beginnings in 2011, we have provided a home for the most exciting artists in the UK, creating shows that have reached new audiences across London and beyond. We can’t wait to work with the NT to find someone to make new work on our stage, and share it with our audience at The Yard.” – The Yard’s Artistic Director Jay Miller
