National Youth Theatre comes to The Yard

08 August — 26 August

National Youth Theatre have inspired and nurtured the talent of hundreds of thousands of young people over the last 60 years. In August, they bring three productions to The Yard as part of their East End Season.

Mohsin Hamid’s Man Booker Prize shortlisted novel The Reluctant Fundamentalist returns following a sell-out premiere last summer. An epic story of love and loss examining the ironies of prejudice and representation in post 9/11 New York, it traces Pakistani native Changez’s disenchantment with the West and his journey back to Lahore.

Blue Stockings by Olivier Award-winning playwright Jessica Swale (Nell Gwynne) follows four young women’s fight for the right to graduate Cambridge University in 1897.

The Host gets its world premiere at The Yard. Syrian refugee Rabea finds an unlikely host in fellow 20-year-old South Londoner Yasmin in this urgent new play by Nessah Muthy in response to Brexit and the European refugee crisis.
