Artist and activist Katy Baird makes work that is rough, raw and radical. Her sharp and uncompromising recent show Workshy has toured to over 28 cities (“messy, anarchic and very funny” ★★★★ The Stage).
This is the very first showing of her new show Unreal, which is at the beginning of its development. Unreal is dedicated to those times in life when you feel totally lost. Those moments when your most terrible thoughts and your biggest failures overshadow everything. When no matter how hard you try, you just can’t shake the feeling that you are faking it all.
As this is the first public showing of this work audience are encouraged by the artist to stay for feedback and discussion in the bar post-show.
Part of the research and development of this work has been supported by Camden People’s Theatre and CUT Festival.
The Araniello Show
With Daniel Oliver
“Wing disability, drink disability, wear disability, fake disability, snog disability,
fuck disability.” Katherine Araniello
Katherine Araniello is sick and twisted. She is also ‘A Miracle of Life’.
The Araniello Show is an unpredictable, hilarious and incurably wayward show, which revels in pity porn, sympathy and dyspraxia. There’ll be infectious over-sharing, sick film and deadbeat exposes. Chaos will be rampant and contagious
Katherine Araniello is an award-winning artist whose work has been shown at Tate Modern, the ICA and internationally. She uses subversive humour in response to the negative representations of disability and twists taboos. You’ll embrace pity-porn in all its festering glory and Miracles of Life.
Come and watch the mayhem unravel.
There will be a BSL interpreted performance of Unreal and The Araniello Show on Tuesday 30 January.
Access tickets are priced at £17 and can be booked online. We offer free tickets for companions and these must be booked over the phone (020 3111 0570) or by emailing email@example.com
