Over the last few months, we’ve been listening to conversations all over Hackney Wick and Fish Island. In cavernous church halls, offices and schools, on boats, over pints, whilst weeding flower beds, in between bingo games and through laughter and tears. People have been talking, people have been sharing their stories:
What time did you wake up this morning?
Where were you born?
Will the future be better than the present?
What’s your story?
What’s our story?
What’s Hackney Wick’s story?
The Yard Theatre have teamed up with community storytelling company take stock exchange to try to understand what’s going on in Hackney Wick at this unique moment in its history. Now, we’re inviting you to join us on 13th January, to eat, drink and listen to the stories of your neighbours.
ALL WELCOME, ALL FREE
Before each performance there will be a free community meal.
12pm – lunch
1pm – performance
6pm – dinner
7pm – performance
We’ll also be hosting the public launch of a report from Hackney Quest about young people’s lives in the area, covering everything from gentrification to chicken shops. Come along to hear local young people’s views on the best things in the Wick, the issues they face, and their ideas for the future. Please join us to celebrate the publication, then stick around for dinner and the performance. Find out more and book here.
